Starting during my time as Mayor of Pinecrest - and continuing to this day - we would offer the Hibiscus Room of Pinecrest Gardens, at no charge, to local artists who wanted a space to exhibit their work. Pinecrest made improvements to the space to serve that purpose. Dozens of local artists have had the same opportunity with no bidding and no contract. Raquel Regalado is distorting the facts to turn an accomplishment I’m proud of into an attack because in four years on the Commission she’s got nothing to be proud of.

We Can Stop the Demolition of the Coconut Grove Playhouse

After a decade of Demolition by Neglect, Miami Dade County is now poised to proceed with the devastating action of demolishing the historic COCONUT GROVE PLAYHOUSE, but we can stop them!

After the extraordinary flooding South Florida just experienced, state legislators are close to passing a law that would dump cancer-causing waste into our roads, poisoning our water and air when it rains.

Despite recent challenges, Miami-Dade’s Animal Services has made tremendous progress over the past decade. It moved into a state-of-the-art facility, and its budget doubled, from $15 million in 2012 to more than $34 million in 2022, which has added significantly to its spay-neuter numbers.

As our municipal and county governments have made commitments to transition to clean energy, it is essential that our Miami-Dade County Public School system takes advantage of the incentives and federal funding available to transition to 100% clean energy by 2030.

It is time for Miami Dade County to breathe life back into the beloved Coconut Grove playhouse, which will require it to be restored to its highest and best use. To meet the needs of the 21 st century Coconut grove, which is again vibrant, attracting thousands of residents to the many new high-end residential towers and who expect high calibre talent to be available.
