Cindy’s Statement about Pinecrest Gardens

Starting during my time as Mayor of Pinecrest - and continuing to this day - we would offer the Hibiscus Room of Pinecrest Gardens, at no charge, to local artists who wanted a space to exhibit their work. Pinecrest made improvements to the space to serve that purpose. Dozens of local artists have had the same opportunity with no bidding and no contract. Raquel Regalado is distorting the facts to turn an accomplishment I’m proud of into an attack because in four years on the Commission she’s got nothing to be proud of.

Raquel Regalado Gets a Rematch With Cindy Lerner in District 7

Cindy Lerner, 71, who has served as Pinecrest mayor and as a Democratic member of the Florida House, lost to Regalado by 1,301 votes when the seat covering southern Miami and its adjoining suburbs was vacated by a term-limited Xavier Suarez.

Cindy Lerner Running for County Commission District 7

By Hal Feldman: Cindy Lerner is no stranger to the people of Pinecrest. In the early days of the Village’s incorporation, the Council was proposing to force all residents to move over to the County water supply, where they would have to pay a hefty tax for the changeover. She and her neighbors organized to successfully fight and stop that special taxing district from happening. Soon thereafter, Cindy’s neighbors, in a groundswell of support, strongly encouraged her to run for Mayor. She won and served two terms as the third Mayor of Pinecrest from 2008-2016. “I spent most of my efforts with visioning for our young Village,” explained Lerner. “I felt we were lacking in public engagement, so we created multiple advisory groups, including ones for transportation and environmental.” For Lerner, it was about getting residents involved on how they wanted to move forward.

South Florida’s leaders must take bold action now to save the region from the threats posed by the warming climate

We need to build the necessary infrastructure so that South Florida residents can continue to live, work and play here for generations to come. The cost of renewable energy has come down substantially, and we should be embracing the solar industry, not only by installing solar panels on homes, government buildings and businesses, but by attracting companies that manufacture solar panels to our community.
